Ex-Chief Whip, 3 Ex – LGs chairmen, others defect to APC

A former Chief Whip of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Bello Yahayya Wurno,

Three former chairmen local government and a former Chief Whip of the Sokoto State House of Assembly as well as over 20,000 other members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State.

Also, a former Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal along with a former Caretaker Councillor equally dumped the ruling party for the main opposition APC.

The former Chief Whip, Alhaji Bello Yahayya Wurno, and the LG chairmen decamped at the flag off of the Sokoto State Eastern Zone Campaign in Wurno and Rabah towns, respectively.

At the ceremony, Alhaji Abubakar Hamma’Ali, and Alhaji Chika Hamma’Ali, former Public Relations Officer, and Secretary of the PDP in Hamma’Ali ward respectively, also jumped ship.

Giving reasons for their defection, Yahayya Wurno said that, they decided to join the APC because of the party’s sense of justice, fairness and equity especially in the distribution of resources and political offices.

They also noted that the APC has done well through the many achievements of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, during his time as governor and a serving senator.

In the same vein, a former member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Tsamiya, a former Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Alhaji Husseini Gandi and a former Caretaker Councillor, Alhaji Tukur Mohammed, among others defected in Rabah local government.

Other prominent defectors also included three former elected Chairmen of the area: Alhaji Mohammed Rabah, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed Rabah, Alhaji Ango Shehu Rabah, and a former Vice Chairman, Alhaji Alhassan Ibrahim Rarah.

Speaking on their behalf, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed Rabah averred that, they left their former party because ” there is no any other party like the APC. ”

The leader of the party in the state, the Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, promised to that they will be treated fairly, justly and equally, as the older members of the party

He described Rabah town as historic and key, as it is the home town of the Iconic leader of the North, the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello-the Sardauna of Sokoto.

Senator Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North senatorial district, berated those abusing and disparaging President Muhammadu Buhari for non-performance stating that: “Anybody doing so is either a fool from a less prominent house or undisciplined, disrespectful family.”

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Campaign Council, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, and the state party chairman, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, have expressed optimism that the APC would win the forthcoming general elections at all levels, with a landslide victory.

Speaking in similar tune, the APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, and his running mate, Alhaji Faruku Malami Yabo, were upbeat about their likely victory and promised to emulate Senator Wamakko’s style of administration.

The Coordinator of the Campaign Committee in the Eastern Zone, former Minister of Culture and Tourism, Senator Bello Jibril Gada, and Senator Ibrahim Gobir, vowed to mobilize massive vote the candidates of the party at all levels.
