Ex-convict in court for forging brother’s signature

A 25-year-old ex-convict, Chibuke Obiejesi, who allegedly forged his brother’s signature, appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday.

The police charged Chibuke, who resides at No 31, Coast St., Ebute Meta, with fraud.

The Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Kehinde Olatunde told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 25 at No 31, Coast St., Ebute Meta.

He alleged that the Chibuke forged his brother, Pascal’s signature on a bank withdrawal slip with the intention to withdraw N20,000 from his account.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant was convicted for the same offence in May and had just been released from prison when he attempted again to commit the same offence.

Olatunde said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 365 of the Criminal of Lagos state, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mr Tolu Agbona, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum.

Agbona ordered that the surety must be a relation of the defendant.

He adjourned matter until Aug. 22 for trial.
