Ex-envoy seeks NEMA’s intervention in Nasarawa crisis areas

A former Nigerian Ambassador to Poland, Dr. Samuel Wodi Jimba, has called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to open an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Toto local government area of Nasarawa state. This, according to him, is to cushion the sufferings of the displaced persons as a result of the renewed violence in the area. He made the call yesterday in a chat with newsmen, urging NEMA to relief materials to the victims of the clash “who are now scattered in various parts of Nasarawa state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He also called for cessation of hostilities and “a return to dialogue which is the best path to lasting peace in Toto local government.” Jimba, however, commended the state government for its prompt action in sending in security forces to arrest the situation and urged that the security presence be maintained “until all issues pertinent the clashes are investigated and resolved.”
