Ex-gov to electorate: Let PDP, APC styles guide your choices

Former governor and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has charged the people of the state to compare the leadership styles between PDP and APC before taking decision on the 2019 governorship election. Idris gave the charge in Lokoja during an award ceremony organised by the Forum of Former PDP Members of Kogi House of Assembly, to honour some past and present members of the National and State Assemblies for their unfl inching support to the party. He said the people of the state have “tasted the other side of the equation” and have come to realise the party that meant well for them.
According to him, “We are confident that PDP will return to power in the state in 2019, judging by the enthusiasm with which party members gathered here today. It shows we are ready to return power to the people of the state.”
In his remark, the immediate past governor of Kogi state, Captain Idris Wada, noted that federal might cannot make the All Progressives Congress (APC) win elections in the state come 2019. Wada said the abysmal performance of the APC-led government over the last two years in the state, had clearly shown that the PDP remained the best option for the people. “For us to achieve success in the forthcoming elections in the state, we must ensure that we put forward people of unquestionable character.
“We must unite behind whoever wins the primaries and we must not allow elections to divide us,” he said. Earlier, the chairman of the forum, Mr Henry Ojuola, advised the party to discourage impunity and choose credible candidates that could wrest power from the ruling APC in 2019. He added that the award was to appreciate the steadfastness and commitment of the recipients to the party in spite of all odds. Amongst those that were presented awards included Senator Tunde Ogbeha; PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan; Senator Attai Aidoko, Senator Ahmed Ogembe, Rep Tajudeen Yusuf, Kogi State PDP Chairman, Engr Sam Ohuotu; a posthumous award on late Senator A. T. Ahmed as well as some other PDP lawmakers at both the National and State Assemblies.
