A former Governor of Kaduna State, Dr Ramalan Yero, has called on youths in the state to join active politics, but play the game without bitterness.
Yero made the call during the first year anniversary, award presentation and launching of 2020 calendar and magazine of Juvenile Aid Foundation (JAF), a Non Governmental Organisation, in Kaduna.
The former governor, who is the JAF patron and an awardee at the occasion, said that Kaduna State needs vibrant youths who are willing to participate fully in politics in order to bring about the desired change.
“Politics has now become an arrangement of leadership, as such it is high time the youth get acquainted with politics, in order to ease themselves of many things when they get the mantle of leadership.
“When eventually you assume leadership of any kind, avoid politics of bitterness and concentrate on how to move the country and your localities to an exemplary level in which others will look upon you for ideas and see you as symbols of hope,” Yero said.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of JAF, Kamal Dalhatu, said that the foundation was created by Zamfara indigenes studying in Sudan.
“When the students brought the idea of the foundation, we replicated it in Zamfara State and subsequently to five northern states with the aim of achieving a society with the less privileged at heart.
“We are assisting orphans and the less privileged in the society with their education, health and other human needs within our capacity; we have had medical outreach where we sponsored eye surgeries.
“We are doing these humanitarian services with our personal funds.
“However, we are open to donations and sponsorship, this could enable us do more and touch many lives that could not have imagined,” Dalhatu said.
The Kaduna branch coordinator of JAF, Ahmad Abdulsalam, said that the foundation was replicated in Kaduna to prompt assistance in areas of healthcare and education to the less privileged.
“We felt it is a good idea for us to help the less privileged in order to abolish the thoughts of our youths who always feel it is only the government that is responsible for providing education and health care to the people, the government can’t reach everyone and everywhere.
“This year, we will pay for ten less privileged persons for eye surgeries, we will engage in almajiri school feeding programmes, children day celebration with orphans, blood donations, other charity missions and sensitisation”, Abdulsalam said.(NAN)
