A former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Attah has canvassed for the establishment of a special unit in the Nigeria Police Force that would protect the Nigerian lawmakers.
Speaking against the background of inadequate policemen to man institutions and organisations in the country, the former IGP said in view of the high number of personnel deployed to protect political office holders, lawmakers inclusive, there was the dire need train a special unit to take care of the security of the Nigerian legislators.
The former top police boss made this known to newsmen when he and his wife took a jab against the deadly COVID 19 vaccine at the Police Clinic, Maitama, Abuja Tuesday.
He said a situation where hundreds of thousands of policemen trained to police the country being deployed to guard legislators and prominent Nigerians to the detriment of the Nigerian citizens is wrong and should be corrected.
In his words: “There should be a unit to take care of Senators, Representatives members, Speakers of State Assemblies and members so that the conventional policemen that are trained and attached to these personalities are withdrawn to effectively take care of the security architecture, which is the primary aim for the establishment of the Nigeria Police Force.”
Attah described the COVID-19 vaccine as normal dosage of injection, imploring all Nigerians to take the jab against the deadly pandemic
He cautioned those threatening the corporate existence of the country to desist, saying Nigeria is better together.
