Ex-Liberia President storms Nigeria ahead Presidential election

Head, ECOWAS Observer Mission to Nigeria Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has said that it is important for the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria to be concluded successfully.

Speaking during a visit of the mission to the acting Inspector General of Police Muhammed Adamu, Wednesday at the Force Headquarters Abuja, she said, “I am honoured to be part of ECOWAS observer mission to Nigeria and in anyway that I can serve Nigeria because the peace that Liberia enjoys is because of the major contribution Nigeria made.

“I am honoured because I come as an African who understands how important it is to conclude the elections as successful.

” Beyond Africa, the eyes of the world is on Nigeria to see what happens and to see that peace and tolerance prevails as Nigerians exercises their franchise.”

She commended the Nigeria Police for all they have been doing to ensure that there is peace in Nigeria, Africa and the world.

Responding the acting IGP said the Nigeria Police is aware of the enormous task ahead of the general elections, noting that on assumption of officer he had assured that the elections will be free, fair, and credible because the Police will be profession.

He said that officers and men of the Nigeria Police have been trained and plans have been concluded to provide adequate security for INEC officials, electoral materials, observers, local and international, even as additional security would be provided after the polls at the collation centres.

While assuring that the Police was fully ready he said that the professional conduct exhibited by  the Nigeria Police in Liberia and other missions was still with them and they will ensure that the elections are without hitches.
