Ex-PDP leaders abandon Sen. Maccido

Former chieftains and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sokoto Central Senatorial District, now chieftains of the All Peoples Congress (APC), have dissociated themselves from  Senator Mohammed Maccido over his decision to  stay put in the PDP.

Addressing local govern-ment council chairmen, former PDP local government chairmen and excos from the zone, a former PDP zonal vice chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Hali, said they had taken the decision owing to the fact that the Maccido did not contact them before he took his decision.

He said they massively supported Maccido in the 2007 and 2011 elections because the governor prevailed on them to do so.
He said Maccido betrayed the governor and the people of the zone, therefore, they had nothing to do with him, stressing: “He is on his own.”
According to him, Governor Aliyu Wamakko remains the political force in Sokoto.
“Wamakko is the father of Sokoto politics, whether they like it or not,” he said.
