Jos Bureau Chief of New Nigerian newspapers, Buhari Bukar Bello, was yesterday attacked by a former speaker of Plateau state House of Assembly, Hon. Istifanus Mwansat, and his colleagues at the Jos High Court premises.
The journalist was at the state high court 5, with his colleagues over a suit by the Independent Corrupt Practices and related offences Commission (ICPC) against the former law maker and his colleagues, Hon. Emmanuel Goer, Hon. John Clark, Hon. Joyce Ramnap, Hon. Joe Dawan, Hon. Dio Lamul, Hon. Jibrin Michael and Hon. Dalyop Mancha, over an alleged corrupt practices.
The defendants, who were not happy with the presence of Bello, informed the presiding judge, having being ducked, that Bello was recording their faces and court proceedings.
But Bello told the judge that he wasn’t recording any proceedings of the court using his camera or phone. However, Justice Dabup, ordered for the confiscation of Bello’s camera and phone, which was latter given back to him.
“The law allows for the recording of proceedings, using pen and paper, but not any electronic devices of phones,” Justice Dabup said.
However, soon after the court proceedings, Hon. Mwansat attacked Buhari, pulled out his camera and thereafter, Hon. Joyce Ramnap, pushed him to the wall while others rained abuses on him.
