Ex-speaker Bankole moves to join APC, meets govs

A former speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, has met behind closed doors with two governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his bid to join the party.

Bankole, Friday in Abuja, met with the Yobe state governor and chairman, APC Caretaker Committee, Mai Mala Buni, in company of the Jigawa state governor, Abubakar Badaru.

Bankole is a member of the opposition Action Democratic Party (ADP).

Confirming the development via a statement signed by Buni’s director-general, press and media affairs, Mamman Mohammed, he said “the three leaders discussed a wide range of political issues including the movement of the former speaker and his supporters into the party.”

According to him, it is evident that AP’’s opportunities in Ogun state are growing and widening.

Recently, a former governor of Ogun state, Otumba Gbenga Daniel, who was also a former director-general of PDP’s Atiku Abubakar Presidential campaign organisation, joined the party.
