Exclusive: Galadima to lead Kwankwaso’s plot to remove Buhari, may abandon APC

Former governor of Kano state and Senator representing Kano central, Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has appointed a member the Board of Trustee (BoT) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Engr. Buba Galadima, as the Director General of his presidential campaign team ahead of 2019 general elections, Blueprint can authoritatively report.

Apart from Engr. Galadima, four serving governors and some other National Assembly members, whose identities have not been made known within and outside the ruling APC had also indicated interest to back the presidential ambition of the former Kano governor.

A reliable source, who is a top member of the APC revealed to our correspondent Sunday in Abuja that Kwankwaso, who celebrated his 61st birthday anniversary in Lagos at the weekend, unveiled Engr. Buba Galadima as his campaign DG to some of his close allies after the birthday party

Galadima, a one time close ally of President Muhammadu Buhari right from the days in the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), had recently been in the media criticising the President and his party with the famous quote, “under Buhari people are stealing right, left and center.”

The APC chieftain added that Galadima has accepted to serve as campaign boss in Kwankwaso Presidential National Campaign Team.

The source who is also a staunch supporter of Kwankwaso presidential ambition also revealed that their principal will not rely on APC ticket to contest 2019 presidential race.

According to the source, Kwankwaso has set up structures across all the regions and states of the federation through his numerous support groups, adding that the support groups have all come together to have a central body coordinating their interest.

The source said: “Engr. Galadima is committed to Kwankwaso’s presidential ambition. I must tell you that Kwankwaso’s ambition is unstoppable this time around whether with APC or out the party.

“The encouragement we receive daily is enormous with different groups and individuals coming to express their support. Some have even sought to meet with our leaders for more than three months now but they have not because so many people are coming.”

Meanwhile, the national leadership of APC has congratulated Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as he marks his 61st birthday.

A statement signed at the weekend by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, described Kwankwaso as a “staunch party man, who has contributed immensely to the growth and success of the APC. As one of the key leaders of the New PDP who joined our Party before the last general elections, Kwankwaso remains one of the strong pillars of the party.

“We also recall that as governor of Kano State, Kwankwaso was a trailblazer, whose thoughtful leadership and vision led to the transformation of the state, thereby laying a solid foundation on which the current governor is building,” the statement said.
