Exclusive: Heads to roll in Osun over ghost workers

Many civil servants who are said to be “ghost workers” have been penciled to be retrenched by the Osun state government, investigation has revealed.

A reliable source told our correspondent that the list ought to have been pasted at the designated areas in the state, wondering why it has not been pasted.

The list is to be pasted at the Ministry of Information, Civil Service Commission and Local Government Service Commission in the state.

It was gathered the list has been compiled by the former Governor Rauf Aregbesola during the last screening done before the expiration of his tenure.

The source hinted that the list was apparently delayed because of the election, saying “releasing it may affect the chance of the APC in the last governorship election.

A source who told our correspondent that the name on the list was many, hinted that Governor Oyetola has dissociated himself from the action.

It was gathered that those affected most are workers that are in the civil service with fake certificate.

It was reliably gathered that workers have been told that names of the affected ones would be pasted at the three locations and they should go and check if their name is there.

However, as at the time of filing this report, the list has not been pasted but tension have been heightened among the civil servants in the state.

The source said, “There is know how the Governor will not downsize because of the problem in the state. I don’t think the state has collected up to N2billion since the beginning of this administration because of the deduction of our debts.

“You can imagine a situation where a government is paying salary of March in April 18 and some people who are not qualified are earning salary.”
