Expert commends Jigawa’s govt efforts on open defecation

Jigawa state government will soon release N200 million in support of state sanitation against the open defecation in order to keep the entire communities clean and free of all diseases

This was stated Tuesdayin Kano during a workshop organized for reporters and communication experts by United Nations International Children Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with the Ministry of Information.

Addressing participants during the workshop, the Water Sanitation and Hygien (WASH) Specialist, Mr Bioye Ogunjobi said Jigawa state government is doing everything possible to eradicate open defecation in the entire state

He said the current chart indicated that Jigawa state has achieved over 75 percent ODF, that is about 3,417 communities are now open defecation free.

He further appealed to federal government to release N10 Million to assist states making efforts to eradicate the open defecation practice in their various communities with immediate effect.
