Gusau

The Maternal and New Born Child Health (MNCH2) Gusau field office, Zamfara, has been commended for the procurement of essential drugs to 84 health facilities in the state.
The commendation was made by the director in charge of Jangebe pharmacy primary health centre in Talata Mafara local government area of the state, Mal. Lawal Muhammad Jangebe in an interview with Blueprint during a quarterly integrated general supervision by the MNCH2 officials in collaboration with the state Ministry of Health.
According to him, the commendation was imperative, considering the procurement of adequate drugs to the 84 selected Zamfara health facilities free of charge, for onward distribution to poor pregnant women, as part of the organisation’s effort in addressing maternal and child mortality in the state.
According to him, the MNCH2 has selected five PHCs and one general hospital in each local government area of the state under the programme, stressing that each PHC benefited, with two modern beds, dustbin containers for effective antenatal care delivery services for pregnant women and nursing mothers in the state.
He said, some of the challenges some primary health centers were facing in the state included inadequate man power and called on Zamfara state government to employ more health personnel to be posted to all the PHCs in the state.
Blueprint report that, majority of the PHCs visited by MNCH2 officials lacked post natal data record and inadequate man power, hence the need for concerned authorities to employ more staffers as well address the challenges.
