Expose bad eggs among you, Oyo NSCDC tells farmers, herders

Oyo state commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Alhaji  Iskilu Abiodun Akinsanya, on Monday asked farmers and herders across the state to expose the bad elements within their midst.

The NSCDC commandant stated this while speaking at the headquarters of the state command, Agodi, Ibadan at the flag off of Agro Rangers unit CD 19 and a stakeholders’ meeting with the farmers and Miyetti Allah cattle dealers.

Akinsanya stressed that, henceforth, any farmer or cattle breeder in the state found with illegal fire arms would be arrested and prosecuted by the command.

According to the NSCDC commandant, there was the need for all and sundry to assist the security agencies in fishing out the bad elements in their midst before they become nuisance to the society .

Akinsanya emphasised the need for Nigerians to continue to live together in harmony with one another, saying, “we have no other place, no other country to call ours.”

Speaking on the Agro Rangers outfit, the commandant said the “operations shall involve 100 officers and men of the corps, 50 officers are to assist the armed Agro Rangers men on intelligence gathering while the remaining 50 shall be the combatant arm of the operation.”

The commandant said the Agro Rangers unit (C19) as a tactical operation shall be cluster –based, involving the trained men of the NSCDC in Agro Rangers operations with support from the good people of Oyo state and members of the Hausa community; Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers and all related agro allied service providers.

“I have called for this press conference to intimidate you about the operations of my command as lined up for the end of the year festive period and the New Year ahead, while also appraising how far we have gone in protecting lives and properties of the good people of Oyo state.

The commandant commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the two cars given to the command for internal operations, adding that his support has complemented the gestures of the Commandant – General of the corps, Abdullahi Muhammadu.
