FA Cup: Supreme FC, TEAP off to winning start

Supreme-Court-FC-Head-CoachNigeria National League  (NNL) campaigners, Supreme Court FC yesterday sentenced a non-league side, Youngsters FC of Jabi, by 4 – 0 in one of the first Federal Capital Territory Capital (FCT) Federation Cup games for decided at Old Parade Ground, Abuja.
The FA Cup competition which kicked off in accordance with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) directive to state FA’s across the country witnessed thrilling encounter in its day one.
The tie between Youngsters and fierce-looking Supreme Court squad began with the losers showing some promises which made them looked like a team to reckon with in the first half which ended without any goal.

When the second half resumed, coach Joackim Osuji-tutored Supreme Court FC fielding most of their reserved players pounced on the Youngsters and Joseph Adebayo converted a scintillating cross from the middle of the pitch to a goal in the 50th minute. The opening goal gifted Adebayo the third goal in the current football season.
Shortly after, Osuji introduced Peter Michael, Jude Chibuike and Issac Mairabo who changed the complexion of the game, culminating into inside 18-yard box infringement from a Youngsters’ defender resulting in a penalty which Eric Eric stepped forward to convert in 55th minute.

Several efforts by the NNL team to get more goals proved otherwise despite the superb combination by Adebayo and Mairabo. Defender Henry Ochuba then capitalized on goal keeping error amidst set piece to tap in another goa; in the 75th minute before Mairabo headed in the last goal before stoppage time.
Earlier in the day, another NNL side, TEAP FC ran away with 2 – 0 victory over a non-league club, Youth Arise.
