FA elections: Ekiti govt assures of level playing ground

Contestants, stakeholders and observers have been promised a level playing field for all contestants at the Ekiti football association’s elective congress to elect new members into the board. 

The election is slated for May 28, 2019.

Speaking in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State Commissioner of Sports and Youths, Pastor Michael Awopetu, restated the commitment of the administration of Governor John Kayode Fayemi to the development of sports and youths in the state.

He the state government is willing to work with any group or persons that are equally passionate and committed to work with the administration to achieve its set goals.

“The government of JKF understands the importance of developing the youths through sports. It is, therefore, also committed to ensuring that the forthcoming Ekiti FA election is free and fair.

“We want to also assure every contestant and stakeholders that the election would not be about colour, creed or religion.

” It is about the best person that has the wherewithal to help take football in the state to greater heights and of course, work and assist this government achieve its goals as it concerns the development of Ekiti youths,” he remarked.

Also speaking ahead of the FA election, Olukere of Ikere, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ganiyu Ayodeji Obasonyin, reiterated the need for a rancour free FA election.

” We agree that there are divided opinions concerning the election. But as stakeholders, we want a smooth and successful election that would engender a bright future for Ekiti football, ” he said .
