Face your studies, VC tasks BUK new students

The vice chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello, has admonished the newly-admitted students of the school to be hardworking, focused and study hard so as to excel in their courses.

The VC gave the advice at BUK convocation arena during an orientation for the new students recently.

For them to actualise their primary objective of coming to the institution, Bello, said the fresh students must strive for academic excellence no matter the odds.

He urged them not to allow  financial challenges to dampen their spirits or make them lose focus in their academic pursuit.

The VC, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Professor Adamu Idris Tanko, told the 100-Level and Direct Entry (DE) intakes to see their admission into the university as a golden opportunity to pursue their career ambitions, urging them to be among the best learners.

The Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Shamsudeen Umar, stressed the need for the newly-matriculated students to set achievable goals in order to graduate in flying colours.

He noted that the “orientation is meant to be a proactive enlightenment effort, geared towards positioning students in proper direction and appropriate way of living in the university setting.”

Also, students were cautioned against wearing indecent clothes on the campus.

They were urged to always dress decently within and outside the campus, in compliance with BUK’s dress code.

This, the speakers said, would make them to be seen and portrayed as responsible and disciplined students.
