Fadama NG-CARES trains community facilitators, LGA officers in Yobe

Preparatory to the take-off of Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus programme, Fadama NG-CARES, the Result Area 2 delivery platform of the programme has begun the training of local government desk officers comprising community facilitators and community development officers of Yobe state.

Addressing participants at the training, the Project Coordinator, Alhaji Musa Graba, said the Desk Officers are critical to the success of the programme, noting that it is their role to identify beneficiaries, delivery and distribute interventions as well monitor progress in the course of the implementation.

He added that smallholder farmers whose livelihoods were affected by the economic contractions, insurgency and the pandemic are targeted to restore agricultural production through the provision of farm inputs, extension services, small infrastructure and agricultural assets to mitigate food loss and ensure food security.

Resource persons who made presentations dwelled on the impact of Covid-19 and mitigation measures, beneficiary targeting and validation, the filling of the community action recovery plan for beneficiary data capture and the formation of community farmers associations and registration at the local government level.

The Community Development and Gender Officer of the programme, Mallam Salisu Abdulmumini, tasked the participants to diligently validate beneficiaries and sensitise them on procedures of beneficiary enrolment.

Other issues discussed include environmental mitigation measures and community procurement processes among others.
