Faggo’s laudable inclusive leadership

Democratically, electorate vote massively for candidates because of confidence they have in them in terms of running an all-inclusive government or representation aimed at eschewing ethnic-regional balancing when reaping or distributing democratic dividends, when they assume their elected offices. Hence, every successful and inclusive leader is always surrounded by people of diverse perspectives who can disagree with ill-advised decisions of their leader without fear or favour.

This confidence has remained firm in inhabitants of the Shira/Giade constituency of Bauchi state since their massive vote for Hon. Kani Abubakar Faggo, member representing them at the House of Representatives. It has yielded fruitful results as they are now reaping myriads of meaningful democratic dividends. Since his swearing-in in 2019, Faggo has made giant strides in improving the lives of his constituents in all areas of human endeavour.

Considering how youths’ unemployment gives rise to abject poverty, insecurity and other crimes across the country, this insightful lawmaker has spared no effort in sharing out 52 federal appointments so far for poor parents’ sons and daughters across his constituency.

Besides, within two years in office, this visionary lawmaker presented eight momentous motions on: how to avert flooding from Disina River to Bunga River, construction of federal road from Gwaram town to Misau LGA, construction of 14 rural roads across his constituency, construction of Gulka dam in Giade LGA, reconstruction of ATBU bridge in Bauchi metropolis, constriction of multi-purpose stadiums in both Shira and Giade LGAs and provision of banks in Shira and Yana towns.

On education, more than 100 male and female students of his constituency and 40 people with disabilities are now being sponsored by this inclusive leader in various tertiary institutions, such as Unimaid, BUK, SDI Ningi and ASCOE Azare. 50 laptops were distributed to some of the students. He built three classrooms along with offices and water supply in Giade town while two classrooms were also built in GDSS in Bukul village of Shira LGA as well as renovating and equipping the primary school with basic facilities. Primary school of Faggo village was endowed with many modern desks.

The federal lawmakere provided three transformers in Guddu, Jatan and Ajangara villages of Shira LGA. Mini solar grids were provided in Jakal village of Shira LGA and Guddu in Giade LGA. He installed 41 solar security lights in Faggo of Shira LGA and 45 others in Isawa village of Giade LGA. In June 2019, people of Bukul and Zigau villages were taken out of darkness as the lawmaker repaired their electricity destroyed by a windstorm. He contributed N.5m to restore power supply to Faguji of Giade LGA and also contributed N.8m for power supply to Zigau and Bukul villages. He also played a key role in providing 2.5MVA in Suddu/Yana sub-station in Shira town from the JED.

Faggo drilled four boreholes along with pumps and 12,000 litres overhead tanks in Kilbori, Chinkani, Sambuwal and Zabi villages, at N12.5m each and three others were also drilled in Dago, Kafin Gora and Giade town. He renovated the entire waterways of Faggo village, and many hand-pump boreholes were renovated in various villages.

Faggo believes that good health is true wealth for his constituents. Thus, he pays medical bills for poor patients across his constituency. It is more attention-grabbing that this considerate lawmaker offers furniture for poor parents who are unable to marry off their daughters due to abject poverty. Many parents are now saying that they are indebted to his empathetic leader.

On agriculture, the lawmaker provided a trailer-load of 900 bags of fertilizer distributed last year for both dry and rainy season farmers with a view to consolidating self-sufficiency and food security.

Considering the population of women and their untold suffering on account of either widowhood or rampant divorce, 500 women will be empowered by the lawmaker after this holy month of Ramadan so as to make them financially independent. This is a very laudable effort, but I appeal to him to help double the figure to 1000.

I strongly call on Hon. Kani Abubakar Faggo to help continue empowering youths and women, and pay due attention to people with disabilities, including women. He should also spare no effort to construct some mini maternities in some villages as well as empowering dry-season farmers in rural areas. Keep it up!!
