The federal ministry of youth and sports development has debunked report that the sum of N4 billion was approved for the ongoing 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) in Benin, Edo state capital.
Reacting to the report, an official of the ministry said in line with the trust of the present administration, monies approved for the competition would be judiciously used.
According to him, “No N4billion naira was ever approved by the Presidency for National Sports Festival. Such information is completely false with no shred of evidence and must be treated as such by the unsuspecting Public.”
The NSF which had kick-started since April 2 will climax on April 14, 2021.
Over 8000 athletes are competing in about 40 various sporting activities including football basketball, tennis, rugby, cricket, weightlifting, boxing, Judo, Dart, athletics among others.
