Family wants woman arrested over daughter’s death

The Adams family at Folagbade Area of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state, has called on the Nigeria Police law to arrest one Omotola Sakirat Saliu over her involvement in the death of their daughter, Yinka Adams.

Spokesman of the Adams family, Mr Samuel Adams, who made the call while speaking with journalists in Lagos, said Omotola has been on the run since May 2018.

He said the suspect and their deceased daughter were accused of being in a sexual relationship and were both arrested by the police on May 11, 2018, reportedly following complaint filed by Omotola’s husband, Saliu.

The family spokesperson further stated that Saliu had sent some thugs to Yinka’s home on July 18, 2018, with the hope confronting his wife there.

He said the thugs attacked their daughter and inflicted serious injuries on her for refusing to disclose the whereabouts of her partner.

According to him, “She was seriously injured and admitted to the hospital where she later died on August 2, 2018.”

He explained that the family had made publications in 2018, 2019, and 2020, respectively, for Omotola to face the consequences of her role in the death of their daughter.

“We are calling on the law enforcement agencies and to inform the general public once again that Miss. Omotola Sakirat Saliu is still at large and anyone that has useful information about her whereabouts should contact Mr. Samuel Adams on this number: 08054178704. We advise Omotola Sakirat Saliu to turn herself in at any police station within the federation.”

Responding to the allegation of sending thugs after the late Yinka, the suspect’s husband told our correspondent that he was innocent.

“I am a law abiding citizen of this country, if indeed I committed the crime the family of late Yinka alleges you wouldn’t meet me here talking to me.

“The police carried out their initial investigation and did not have any reason to remand me. They should let the law enforcement complete their investigation and charge anybody they find culpable to court,” he stated.
