Farmers call for assistance with farm implements

A group of farmers known as Camp Farm Multipurpose Community Association based in Gwagwalada has called on the federal government and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to come to their aid by assisting them with farm implements.
Speaking to journalists after their monthly meeting at Tungwanmaje in Gwagwalada Area Council, a retired Head of Work, Land and Survey with Area Council Services Commission and the Vice Chairman/Project Chairman, Engr. Jibrin Gari, said that the association needs 150 heithres of land.

He said this would enhance agricultural production by ensuring the availability of necessary farm tools for use by farmers in the territory for international food and animal market.
He thus requested for the government to assist them and also solicited the cooperation of farmers.
He urged farmers to maximise the use of services of agricultural projects, to make food available and affordable to residents.

In his welcome address, the group chairman for FCT, Abdullahi Diko, appealed to residents to join them in the struggle, pointing out that the association had good leaders and able personnel that would handle its affairs.
The association’s mandate, he said, is to implement federal government’s livestock projects in collaboration with the World Bank, which is mainly on animal production, grazing reserves, and some livestock.
