Farmers, herders’ clashes: Adamawa court sentences 5 to death by hanging

A Yola High Court presided over by Justice Abdulazeez Waziri has sentenced five persons to death by hanging.
Those sentenced are; Alex Amos, Alheri Phenuel, Holy Boniface, Jerry Gideon and Jari Sabagi of Demsa local government area of Adamawa state.
The accused persons were brought before the court on a four count charge of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and attack on three herdsmen and their cattle which resulted into the killing of one Adamu Buba.
The judge explained that, the offences committed by the accused contravened Section 96(1) (A) and section 79 and 221(b) of the panel court of Adamawa state, 1997. Delivering judgement in the case filed before the court, Justice Waziri found the accused persons guilty of all the four charges and sentenced them to death by hangingAccording to the presiding judge, the case had been established and proven beyond reasonable doubt.
In his ruling, Waziri said “I hereby sentence the accused persons on counts one and two to death by hanging, while on counts four and five, I sentence the accused to three years in prison to run concurrently.” Blueprint gathered that, the convicts were said to have on 18/1/2017 at Kondomo village in Demsa local government, conspired and attacked three herdsmen rearing cattle and killing one of them, Adamu Buba, whose body they threw into a river and maimed several cows.
