The Traditional Ruler of Gom Mama in Nasarawa state, Alhaji Mustapha Zubairu, has urged farmers and herders to always embrace dialogue as a means of settling conflict to boost food security in the country.

Zubairu made the call in a report by Agronature Nigeria news during an interview in Lafia, Nasarawa state. He said remains a vital requirement to develop any society, hence the need for farmers and herdsmen to co-exist peacefully with one another.

According to the monarch, farmers and herdsmen must understand the value of peace and co-existence to foster development in the state and the country at large.

“The importance of peace and unity to the development of the society cannot be overemphasised, hence the need for all and sundry to embrace peace.

“As the farming season begins, I want to call on all of us, especially farmers and herdsmen to imbibe the spirit of love and peaceful co-existence to enhance growth and development.

“This is also to boost food security as no nation can achieve meaningful progress and development without peace,” Zubairu said.

He cautioned herdsmen against grazing on farm land while advising farmers against taking laws into their hands, no matter the level of provocation.

He urged the people to remain law-abiding, respect constituted authorities and be their brother’s keepers for development to be achieved.
