He said: “Arewa House was established in 1970 by the then Northern state governments to immortalise the legacies of late Northern Premier, Sir Ahmadu Bello. It has undertaken so many activities that have to do with national unity in line with the preaching of the late premier. So, the then Northern state government decided to convert his official residence to a center of historical research.

“Former vice president, Sambo will serve as chairman of the morning session. We have invited from the South, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state to serve as first speaker on the topic: ‘Unfinished Greatness Towards a more Perfect Union in Nigeria’.

“The afternoon session will be chaired by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, with Professor Elias Bogoro as the speaker. He is to speak on the topic; ‘Accessing Education: Compelling Leadership Obligation of the Northern Elites’. We have invited all ex-heads of state, governors, and traditional rulers from the country, serving and ex-ministers to celebrate the milestone recorded by Arewa House in the last 50 years.

“The lecture is slated for October 31st, while the exhibition will take place between 29th October and November 1st, 2020. Arewa House is a center for harmony to uphold national unity, and serve as a political bridge between the North and the South. We undertake academic and non academic research and  we have an archive established to preserve documents, history and a museum. We have a very rich reference library.

“Since 2008, we have been organising yearly education summits. In 2004, it partnered Northern states governors to organise a summit on the development of the North. Arewa House is the only center that organises conferences on the state of the nation and the way forward.”
