FCC: Senate screens Dankaka, five others

 The Senate Committee on Federal Character and and Inter – Governmental Affairs,  has screened six out of the 38 nominees sent to the upper legislative chamber for approval  by President Muhammadu Buhari as Chairman and Commissioners  of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
Among those screened on Monday by the Committee was the Chairman nominee for the Commission, Dr Muheeba Dankaka who was given the privileged treatment of take a bow and go being a woman.


A member of the committee, Senator Uche Ekwunife ( PDP Anambra Central), reminded the committee that the take a bow and go tradition of the Senate for women nominees at Plenary still applies in the committee rooms and as such the chairman designate Dr. Muheeba Dankaka took a bow and left after she reassured the committee that she would ensure strict adherence to federal character principle. 


Chairman of the committee Senator Danjuma Laah (PDP Kaduna South),  urged the Chairman designate, to always bring to the knowledge of the Senate any opening in any MDAs.
The committee reminded the nominees of the need to foster national unity through strict adherence to constitutional provisions.


All of the six who were screened separately presented thier CVs.
Other nominees screened, were Adeniyi Olowofela, Abiodun Akinlade, Ginika Florence, Tonya Okio and Mohammed Hamza .
Minister of information and Culture Lai Mohammed described the choice of a woman this time for the Chairmanship position as a positive step towards a better commission.
