FCE Okene matriculates 119 for degree programmes (4th)

The Federal College of Education Okene in Kogi state has matriculated 119 students into the eleven undergraduate programmes of the University of Ibadan for the 2019/2020 academic session.

Addressing the students at the 8th matriculation ceremony of the students admitted into degree programmes of the institution in Okene, the acting vice- chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Babatunde Ekanola, said holistic education was the way forward in the educational life of any vibrant institution.

Ekanola, represented by the director, Directorate of Affiliate Institutions, Prof. Mojeed Kolawole Akinsola, said the model of education in teaching and learning would promote peace and stability as well as ingrain in people true nationalism and patriotism.

“A better future can only be assured if we begin now to work for it by proposing new action and by getting all hands on deck,” he said.

Earlier, the provost, Dr. Umaru Hassan, in his speech, disclosed that 59 students were admitted into 100 level while 60 students in 200 level.

Hassan, who tasked the new students on reading culture, urged them to take their academic work seriously and shun examination malpractice, cultism and other anti-social activities that were inimical to their scholarly pursuits.

“I am aware that you have been enlightened on the fundamentals and basic values guiding your course of study in both institutions. It is very important to stick to those rules and regulations religiously because any default by you will attract serious negative consequences,” he said.
