FCE Yola matriculates 470

Federal College of Education ( FCE) Yola, an affiliate of the University of Maiduguri, has matriculated 470 students into various degree programmes of the college for 2018/2019 academic session, making it the fifth times the college admitted students into its degree programmes.

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, which took place in the college at the weekend, the provost of the college, Professor Abdulmumin Sa’ad  said that this year’s matriculation was coming at a very critical moment of a significant breakthrough in his efforts to reposition the college for academic excellence.

He explained that the institution has so far secured full accreditation status for seven out of nine degree programmes as well as full accreditation for the 24 NCE programmes run by the college.

The provost said the college under his watch continued to witnessed impressive performances and graduated the first set of 164 degree students with great results, which include one first class in core sciences, 89 second class upper, 73 second class lower and one third class.

He expressed satisfaction with the high level of discipline and maturity being exhibited by the students and re-iterated his commitment to provide befitting and conducive environment for teaching and learning in the college.

The provost further commended the federal government for awarding contract through the ecological funds for the construction of four major roads and several drainages within the college to alleviate the problem of flooding within the campus. He also commended UniMaid management for its mentorship.

The vice chancellor of UniMaid, Professor Abubakar Njobdi  reiterated the commitment of the university to always support the college and other institutions affiliated to the university in the pursuit of their degree programmes and bring university education to the doorstep of every Nigerian .
