FCET Gusau students cautioned on misconducts

Students of the Federal College of Education (Technical) Gusau have been counseled to desist from any activity that would disrupt their studies, including cultism, drug abuse, violence and other vices capable of disrupting their education. Acting Provost of the college, Dr. Usman Ladan Kurya, gave the warning at the matriculation ceremony of students of the 2017/2018 academic session held at the weekend.

According to him, about 829 students matriculated into the 27 programmes of the institution for the academic session. The acting Provost further warned the students to turn away from other vices such as exam malpractice, indecent dressing and other undesirable behaviours considered antisocial, abhorred by the host and larger societies, stressing that the college has zero tolerance for such malpractices.

He warned that, any student found breaching the rules and regulations of the college would be sanctioned, irrespective of his socio-economic background and status. “You need to understand that morals have strong connection to individual’s socio-economic and educational achievements; therefore, you may wish to note that students are only graduated when found worthy of character and learning, hence the need to wrap yourselves with noble character, discipline, order, dedication, perseverance and endurance,” Dr. Kurya stated. He then called on the students to justify the golden opportunity of gaining admission into the college by working hard to achieve excellent results in all courses being offered with a view to furthering their studies to university level, saying the college under his leadership will ensure safety of the students and create the enabling teaching and learning environments to assist them succeed in their studies.
