FCT FA boss, Muktar gives Fashikun’s family N.2m

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Football Association, Chairman, Mohammed Muktar, has doled out as sum of N200,000 to the family of late Jide Fashikun.

Muktar made the donation during a Lecture Series organised by the FCT Chaptar of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) to commemorate its week at the MKO Abiola Stadium Abuja, Monday.

Muktar while giving out the cash said the friends of the late Journalist should not let his children and wife feel his demise asking them to lend hand of support to his family.

He described the late Fashikun as a bold, courageous and fearless reporter who did not allow intimidation from any quarters to hamper his job.

“If I wake up everyday I refresh and updated my memory from news from his site which is called Gong News.

“And I am treated to political, economic and sports news and commentaries. He did not only present it but give detailed analysis and commentaries when required,” Muktar said.

Also commending the late Journalist is the Director of Press in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mrs. Lere Adams, who descibed Fasikun as an outstanding and prolific writer who inform the masses about daily activities in the country and beyond.   

Former Director General of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Al Hassan Yakmut, also spoke on “Exhausting the Cycle of Grassroots Sports Programming for Consistent Podium Success”.
