FCT Joint Taskforce nabs 10 for extortion, illegal road block

A Joint Security team led by Nyanya Divisional Police Officer (DPO), acting on intelligence, Thursday, arrested 10 suspects for mounting an illegal road block and using same avenue to extort money from motorists and other members of the public at the FCT/Nasarawa boundary.

A press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the FCT Police Command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said the suspects were arrested by the security operatives of the COVID-19 lockdown enforcement team along Nyanya-Mararaba axis.

“The suspects are: one IdokoRapheal; Obi Robert; Augustine Aber; RaphealIkyaabo; Stephen Ikpi; OmacholaUranje; Remigius Gosioha; Dyke Ifeanyi; Chinedu Nwoyi; and Uzoma Mbadoha.

“The cash sum of N7,180, suspected to be proceed of the crime, was recovered as exhibit. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation,” the PPRO said.

He said while reaffirming commitment to the protection of lives and property, especially during the lockdown, the command enjoined residents to be security conscious and comply with the lockdown order.
