FCT Minister warns agencies’ heads over service delivery

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has warned all heads of Agencies, Departments and Area councils against any act of underperformance.

He said that the duty of building a nation’s capital to meet up with the dreams of founding the fathers should be seen as a collective task, where everyone  must sit up to work.

Bello who gave the warning Yesterday, when he received the handing over note from the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Christian Ohaa,

disclosed that heads of agencies would be held responsible and accountable, ” this time around I will not spend time cajoling people to work, as there is going to be a lot of enforcement of the rules and regulations of the FCT.” He said:

He reiterated that any head of agency that does his work would be part of the team, adding anybody that fail to do his or her work would be “kick out simple.”

Bello explained that enforcement would be applied across boards including FCT Councils down to Traditional Authorities, stressing that “everybody must work.”

According to him, every heads of agencies will be monitored to make sure that they discharge their duties effectively.

“Whatever you do is well documented whether positive or negative is well known because you have been saddle with the unique responsibilities of running a territory and Abuja as a city.

“Most of you are very much aware that during my first tenure I spend a lot of time working closely with you trying to encourage you to reengineer yourself and to appreciate the enormous responsibilities bestowed upon you.

“In so doing I gave all of you a free hand and make sure that you got the right fundings and I spend a lot of time pursuing various departments encouraging them to do their work with the support of the Permanent Secretary and so many  others.

“We had to push and fight to ensure that people appreciate their responsibilities to the extent I was expected to do everything including being the mouthpiece, the publicity officer of the respective departments while in each and every agency there is Public Relations Unit and we have people saddle with that responsibility.

“Some of you who are saddle with this responsibility for three and half years never write one article or grant press interview to showcase the work we did.

“Now that God has given me another opportunity I don’t have to do all that I did before except of course providing funding.

“Every department and agency is clearly aware of its roles and responsibilities, ” he submitted.

Speaking earlier, The Permanent Secretary Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Christian Ohaa revealed that departments and agencies of the FCTA have remained alive to their duties over the last three months and have given the maximum cooperation and support required for the administration to function effectively.

Ohaa, therefore, pledged full support, cooperation and loyalty to ensure that the Minister achieve the mandate of taking the FCT to the next level.

“The morale of workers is high, boosted further by your re-appointment and we are ready to work with you in our quest of building a territory of our dreams.”
