FCT Police arrest robbers, clamp down on cars with tinted glass, spy number


The FCT Police Command has arrested six suspects for one chance/armed robbery along Zuba and Lugbe axis.
This is as the FCT joint security team has launched an operation against the use of unauthorized covered number plates and tinted glasses.


The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Marian Yusuf, made this known in separate press statements, Sunday in Abuja.
The spokesperson noted that: “Amongst the suspects are: Ishmael Peter, 31; and Omeka Kadiru,20; who were arrested by eagle-eyed Police detectives from Zuba Division on routine patrol in the wee hours of Thursday April 29, 2021, while attempting to dispossess their victim of her belongings.


“The suspects, who parade themselves as commercial drivers, confessed that they lure their unsuspecting victims (women) into their operational vehicle before carrying out their nefarious act. “Exhibits recovered include: one red colour Toyota Corolla with reg No BWA 782 BD; one fabricated Beretta pistol; six rounds of live ammunition; one plyer; one chisel; two ATM cards; one camouflage cap and vest; three different number plates; seven human hair weaves; ten mobile phones; bunch of keys; two pairs of female shoes; four female hand bags; cash sum of N128,120; one invoice booklet; one lighter; six pieces of female clothes and other items.


She further stated, “Relatedly, Police Operatives from Lugbe Division arrested one Emmanuel Joseph, 26; Thankgod Abam, 26; Gabriel Joshua, 27; and Ekene Nwatu, 31; all male for robbery.
“The suspects confessed to terrorizing Lugbe axis using fraudulent means to dispossess unsuspecting residents of their possessions. Exhibits recovered from the suspects are: one red colour Toyota Corolla with Reg no. BDG 648 EZ; six plasma TVs; jewelry, and several household items.


“The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.”
Meanwhile, “In continuation with its relentless effort to rid the Federal Capital Territory of criminality, the FCT Joint Security team chaired by the Commissioner of Police CP Bala Ciroma has launched an operation against the use of unauthorized covered number plates and tinted vehicles. 


“The operation has become extremely necessary due to the recent security threat analysis conducted by the Joint team; which reveals that criminal syndicates now execute their nefarious activities using tinted vehicles with covered number plates.
“Therefore, the team wishes to sound a note of warning to residents using unauthorized covered number plates and tinted vehicles within the FCT to desists as violators will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.  


“Furthermore, the Chairman of the Joint team implores residents to cooperate with security agencies and report all suspicious movements, emergency or distress, through these numbers: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883 or 112.”
