FCT Police disburse N25m insurance cheques to deceased officer’s families

The FCT Police Command has disbursed insurance cheques worth N25 million to next of kin of deceased officers and men of the command.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, DSP Josephine Adeh, made this know in a press statement, Friday in Abuja.

She said, “In fulfilment of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba, family welfare insurance scheme policy, marked periodically by the approval and disbursements of insurance Cheque, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Babaji Sunday, on Thursday, July 21, 2022 distributed insurance cheques worth N25 million.

“The cheques were presented to the next of kin of 29 deceased police officers of the ranks of Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP), Inspectors, Sergeants, and civilian staff attached to the command, who died between 2020 and 2021.”

DSP Adeh further said, “The Commissioner of Police while extending his condolences to the beneficiaries of the deceased, noted that the money presented was in no way a payment for the lives and services of their loved ones but a way to show them that the Force remembers the labour of their loved ones in life and death.

“He urged them to make meaningful use of the benefits to make life better, covering up for the absence of their benefactors.”

According to her, “A representative of the beneficiaries while expressing appreciation to the Force through the Commissioner of Police promised judicious use of the token and prayed for God’s blessing on the command and the Nigeria Police Force as a whole.”
