FCT Police nab car ‘thief’, recover vehicle own by FRSC

The FCT Police Command has said that Police operatives from Bwari Division have arrested a suspected car thief, Hamisu Tukur, 25, and recovered a vehicle belonging to the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) Headquarters, Abuja, believed to have been stolen.

The command disclosed this in a press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Anjugiri Manzah, Sunday in Abuja.

It read in part: “In prompt response to a distress call received by the FCT Police Command’s control room, the Command on 5th September, 2020, arrested one Hamisu Tukur, 25, at the outskirt of Bwari, for stealing a vehicle belonging to the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) Headquarters stationed at Sky Memorial, Zone 5, Wuse.

“The fleeing suspect was arrested by the eagle-eyed Police Operatives from Bwari Division during a stop and search operation, following a call received from the FRSC Headquarters by the Command’s control room.”

The spokesperson said exhibits recovered from the suspect was one white Toyota Hilux-HQ-26RS and a single key.

Manzah said while reassuring residents of its resolve to protect lives and property, the command enjoins residents to promptly report or call these emergencies numbers in case of distress:  08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883.

Meanwhile, the command has reassured members of the public that the command has deployed proactive intelligence gathering mechanism and crime-fighting measures to beef up security across the FCT.

Manzah in a separate press statement affirmed the command’s commitment to the protection of life and property and forestall any act that could lead to a likely security breach.   

“The Command is also working in close synergy with sister security agencies in its ongoing effort to strength security in FCT,” he said.
