FCT Secondary Education Board requests more assistance from Korea

The Secondary Education Board of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have requested the Korean government through its cultural centre, to increase its quota on scholarship slot, assist her in the capacity building for  teachers and on infrastructural development

Speaking at a farewell ceremony organised by the board, for two students that came out tops in the recently concluded Korean sponsored competition for secondary schools, the representative of the board, Hajiya Binta Nasir, a Deputy Director Co-curricular Division of the Board said, it is an annual collaboration between the FCT Secondary Education Board and the Korean cultural centre and by extension, Nigeria Government and Korea Government which has over time produced beneficiaries from FCT Public Schools.

She stated that the scholarship award for the two successful students came after a keenly contested essay and quiz competition held for 20 schools across the Area Councils in FCT.
She urged them to be good ambassadors of FCT and Nigeria as a whole and sustained the hard work which has earned them the award.

Binta said the board is seeking for capacity building for teachers to further equip them for the challenges ahead..  She commended the Principals and Teachers of the two schools for their unrelenting efforts in ensuring this success is achieved assuring that, the FCT Secondary Education Board will continue to give all necessary support to the schools.

The two students: Alhassana Halimat Isah from School For the Gifted, Gwagwalada is to study Economics in Seoul National University while Otene Agnes Omatei from Government Girls Secondary School, Abaji is to study Chemical Engineering in Yeungnam University respectively, expressed their appreciation for the award promising to work harder and impact positively to the Nigeria economy after their study and be good ambassadors.
