FCTA approved 69 building plans in 12 days – Minister

Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has approved a total of 69 building plans within a period of 12 days.
Minister of FCT, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, said this after meeting with some senior staff of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) in his office at Area 11, Garki I in a statement signed on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Hazat Sule.

The minister said his administration deliberately improve on the approval time frame of building plans in the FCT to further tackle the illegal structures springing up in and around the Federal Capital City and to also reduce housing deficit in the Federal Capital Territory in tune with the vision of the Transformation Agenda of the federal government.
The minister said the 69 approvals given are out of a total 148 building plans submitted within the period 12 days, September 12-24, 2014.

According to him, a total of 73 setting out/stage approvals were also given by the FCT Development Control Department within the same period under review.
The minister further said that in order to improve service delivery to the residents of the Abuja, FCT Administration intends to establish Physical Document Management Office under the FCT Development Control Department towards the automation and tracking of mails/complaints- Business Process Manager.

The minister added that his administration is looking at the possibility of imbibing the ideals of Green Building; noting that the FCT Administration may sponsor some professional staff of the FCT Development Control to attend the Annual Green Building Convention organised by the United States Green Building Council in New Orleans, USA.
He charged residents to continue to cooperate with the FCT authorities to take Abuja to greater heights.
