FCTA charges staff on biometric data capturing

Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has called on FCTA staff to come out enmasse and capture their biometric data for ease of personnel management, manpower development and budgeting.
Assistant Director, Department of Human Resource Management in charge of Manpower Development (MPD), Mr. Rotimi Ajayi, gave the explanation while speaking with Our correspondents last week.
He said the exercise, which commenced last year, was expected to last beyond six months as wells as to capture such staff’s biometric data as Tax Identification Number (TIN), PenCom Number, Bank Verification Number (BVN)/Bank Account Number and National Housing Fund Number.
Other data to be captured are FCT Health Services Scheme Number, National Identity Card/Slip, as well as educational and professional credentials.
“All these data are very important because they can be used for personnel planning, manpower planning and personnel budgeting. We can also use it for promotion because with just a click, we will be able to know the number of staff due for promotion.
“This is in addition to enabling the Administration to effectively place square pegs in square holes, as well as round pegs in round holes.”
Ajayi said the data could also be used for and by staff for retirement purposes, adding that staff “who do not have the necessary requirements to try and get them so that they would perform the exercise satisfactorily in time.”
He also disclosed that it was mandatory for all members of staff to be physically present for the exercise, and also take it very seriously by making available all the requirements “so as to make it successful,” adding that the exercise was not meant to witch-hunt any staff, even as he asked them not to panic.
He noted that FCTA staffers in the data office were already working with the consultant and they were expected to take-over management of the data on completion of the biometric exercise.
