FCTA flags off 2019 planting season

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has through its Agric and Rural Development Secretariat, (ARDS) flagged off this year’s farming season.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Malam Muhammad Musa Bello while speaking Tuesday at the occasion at the Old parade ground Area 10 Abuja, said the administration was ready to encourage large scale farming so it has equally given rebate for all farm infrastructure like large buildings and other heavy inputs.

The minister who was represented by the FCT Executive Secretary, Engr. Gambo Jibrin disclosed that this year’s farming was an improvement of last year’s, as several innovations have been introduced.

Secretary ARDS,Mr. Stanley Nzekwe said unlike in the past when middlemen pay and collect bulk products only to resell at high prices, this year’s products have been streamlined and regulated.

He said to ensure that real rural farmers benefit from sale of subsidised fertilizers, ARDS have discentralised the sale into six distribution centres: Gwagwalada, Gwagwa, Kwali, June, Tungan Maje and Bwari.
