FCTA ‘ll continue to support women, Perm sec assures NCWS

The permanent secretary, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Mr. Christian Ohaa has assured National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS) that the Administration would always provide an enabling environment for them to succeed.

Ohaa who revealed that the FCTA through its Social Development Secretariat, SDS, is conscious of women and vulnerable children challenges and will stop at nothing in addressing it.

He gave the assurances when the newly inaugurated executives of FCT chapter of National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS), Monday paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

As requested by the women society who also presented a case of increase welfare to the permanent secretary, He said that the FCTA was going to arrange to establish transit homes, resettlement/rehabilitation of out of school children on the street and awareness creation as requested by the women Union.

He said: “We will continue to do our best to address the challenges being faced by women and orphans in the street. Issue of employment for vulnerable women, the administration will make sure that they undergo the normal procedures before considering them for employment.

“Women are the folcum of any society especially homes, that is why we are keen about women matters. Therefore, the women too have to support government programmes”.

the FCT NCWS President, Hajiya  Hadiza Umar  who acknowledged the FCTA’s   consistent support for the women, appealed for increase in the union’s monthly subvention from one million to, two million, five hundred thousand naira.

She said the amount will assist them to meet up with the urgent issues and needs of women.

The president also demanded for a vehicle to ease the urgent needs and emergency issues of women, youth and children.
