FCTA shares N2.2bn allocation to 6 area councils

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Abuja has disbursed the sum of 2.2 billion to the six Area Councils in the FCT its share of statutory allocation for the month of March 2018.
Permanent Secretary, Mr. Chinyeaka Ohaa, who made the disclosure over the weekend at the Joint Area Councils Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting, charged the council chairmen to step up service delivery to residents of the Territory and ensure workers’ salary is given top priority.
The figure reveals that Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) received the highest allocation of N183 million, Gwagwalada, N167million while Kuje got N139million.
In a similar vein, Kwali Area Council got N136 million while Bwari got N129million and Abaji N129 million, respectiely.
Furthermore, statutory deductions from the release include Primary School Teachers, which gulped 1 billion, 15 per cent Pension funds of N226 million while 1 per cent Training Fund gulped N22million and 10 per cent Employer Pension Contribution, received N58million.
Chairman, Kwali Area Council, who doubles as Chairman of FCT chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr. Joseph Kwali Shazin, thanked the Minister and Permanent Secretary for always ensuring that the councils get their full allocation and as at when due.
