FCTA tasks entertainment industry on fight against terrorism

Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has called on all and sundry, including the music and movie industry to rise up and think of what they can do collectively to fight terrorism in the country.

FCTA made this stand yesterday when the Minister of FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed, represented by the Secretary, Health and Human services Secretariat, Dr. Ademola Onakomaiya, received hip-hop artiste, Dapo Oyebanjo, popularly called D-banj, who paid visit to the Nyanya bomb victims at the Asokoro General Hospital.

Onakomaiya said the fight against terrorism is not a fight for the government alone but for all.
“The fight against terrorism is a collective one; it’s not about government alone. It’s not about what your country can do for you but what you can do for the country collectively to have zero tolerance to terrorism in Nigeria”

On the artiste’s visit, he said, “The FCTA under the distinguished leadership of Senator Bala Mohammed, feels great because health care is not just the absence of disease, it’s a state where there is psychological, mental balance and emotional balance and if you see some of the victims visited they were really excited seeing somebody from the Nigeria music industry like D-banj, which in a way would aid their recovery.

He added that, “So no doubt, it’s a good thing and we hope more people in the entertainment industry will come to us so that they can unite be it in the music and movie industry to produce sensible or credible music that will fight terrorism in Nigeria because music is a global language; so I will just implore everybody in the entertainment industry to come together and fight against terrorism so that we can have zero tolerance to new bomb attack in Nigeria”

Giving the latest statistics of victims at the hospital, he said, from the onset “27 corpses and 26 victims” were brought in and as at yesterday, there are “16 people presently receiving treatment, all others have being fully treated and discharged in stable condition and the federal capital territory administration is solely responsible for their medical bills, feeding and also Psycho social support after the bomb blast,” he said.

Earlier in his remarks on why he visited, D-banj, said, “I am a Nigerian and I happen to be around this side and because I have always wanted to come just to see them but I have not had the time so before leaving Abuja today, I thought to myself that I should come and see them with some gifts to show them that they are not alone and in the spirit of Easter we just have to celebrate the fact that they are alive.”
