FCTA to establish School of Health Technology before December

Minister of State for FCT, Ms Olajumoke Akinjide, said School of Health Technology would be established in the territory before the end of 2014.
Akinjide made the announcement on Tuesday in Abuja during a meeting with the Ministerial Committee on Rejuvenating Primary Health Care Centres in the FCT.

She said the establishment of the school would help to curb the challenges faced by primary health care centres in the FCT.
“The establishment of the school will help to produce the needed human resources for health. We need to have trained personnel for quality health care’’, she said.

According to her, the FCTA will find an initial space to kick start the school before the end of the year.
“As a matter of urgency we will rent a place or get a space at the health secretariat to start off’’, she said.
She, however, urged all the area councils to focus on health and environment matters.

The minister also called for the prioritisation of health, education, environment and water projects in the FCT.
“We will have less approval of road projects, a good road should lead to where there are social amenities provided’’, she said.
