Palpable fear has enveloped some civil servants in Nasarawa state as the committee on restructuring of government ministries and agencies submit its report next week.
The committee which is to round up its assignment next week Thursday was given four weeks to submit its report.
The committee has proposed the merger of some government agencies and ministries to reduce duplication of duty and reduce financial burden on government.
Although there is no official communication from the committee as it has kept its work discreetly from the public but close sources confided to our correspondent that the committee has recommended the merger some ministries that are seen as duplication of others.
Some of the ministries proposed for merger are the ministries of education, ministries of science and technology and ministries of higher education to come under one ministry.
Others are that of ministry of lands and ministry of environment to come under the same ministry while works will be attached to housing.

Nasarawa state Urban Development Board (NUDB) to have a separate body that could take charge of Karu area for more revenue mobilization and development
The state geographical information system (NAGIS) is also to be unbundle through procedural management where individuals and bodies seeking certificate of occupancy will pay into a government account through ministry of finance then go through ministry of lands for survey and documentation before the ministry forward the request to NAGIS for final processing of the C of O.
Chairman of the committee Silas Dachor, told our correspondent that they are still working and that they were given four weeks to submit their report.
The fear is that some senior civil servants will have to be transferred to other agencies and not necessary as directors or management staff because of limited space that will exist after merger.
