Fear grips residents as Oyo records highest Covid-19 cases in one day

Governor Seyi Makinde, Sunday morning, announced that Oyo state has recorded 31 new coronavirus positive cases.

The cases are highest in 24 hours.

The governor who disclosed this on his Twitter handle while giving update on Covid-19 situation in the state, said 30 of the new cases are from the same organisation based in Ibadan South local government area of Oyo state.

According to governor Makinde, the affected organisation has been shut down and will be decontaminated.

“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for 31 suspected cases came back positive. Thirty of these cases are members of staff of the same organisation based in Ibadan South West local government area. The organisation has been shut down and will be decontaminated,” he said.

Governor Makinde also said that the remaining one positive case came from Egbeda local government area of the state, adding that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed COVID -19 cases in the state is now 107.

The governor then urged the people of the state not to panic, saying, “We urge members of the public to remain calm as the situation is under control. Intensified contact tracing has already been activated.”
