FEC approves N61bn for infrastructure in FCT

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday approved N61 billion for the provision of engineering infrastructure in Kyami District, Zone C, Abuja, with a land area of 942.56 hectares.
Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, told State House correspondents that the contract was in line with the statutory responsibility of the FCTA which included provision of engineering infrastructure.
He said the contract was awarded to Messrs Mangrovetech Construction and Engineering Nigeria Limited (KaKatar CE Limited) in the sum of N60, 887,492,656.65 with a completion period of 60 months.
He said: “This is one of the residential districts located in Phase V of the city with a land area or 942.56 hectares. Council deliberated extensively on the scope of work, contribution to the project to the overall development of the FCT, including job creation and noted that all due process requirements were met and approved the award of the contract.”
He said the sum of N5 billion had been provided for in the 2014 budget in order to make advance payment for the project.
