Federal Poly Damaturu introduces new courses

Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, has began a number of reforms in a bid to increase the number of courses run by the institution.

The rector of the polytechnic, Dr Kallamu Usman, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Wednesday in Damaturu

He said the new courses include National Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning; Computer Engineering, Marketing, Public Administration, and Agricultural Engineering.

Other courses are Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Physics Electronics.

“All the new courses have been inspected and accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE),” he said.

Usman said when he assumed office on January 16, 2017, the classrooms, laboratories and other structures were in horrible state.

“So the classes, lecture theatres and laboratories have to be renovated to create conducive atmosphere for effective teaching and learning.” He lauded the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for granting special intervention fund to the institution to complete the project.
