Fedpoly, Bauchi warns students against indecent dressing

Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, Arc Sunusi Gumau, has warned students of the institution to desist from indecent dressing and other unruly behaviours capable of attracting sanctions from the management. The rector gave this warning over the weekend while unveiling a billboard on decent dressing code donated by Higher National Diploma (HND) students of Mass Communication in the school. Gumau, who commended the students for the gesture, urged them to be obedient and loyal to their lecturers, emphasising that the school awards certificates based on learning and character. He, however, advised that relationship between a lecturer and student in the institution should be like that of father and child.

“No student should offer bribe or sex to a lecturer in order to obtain better grades. The student also has a right to report to the school authority any attempt to collect bribe from them, and should report any sexual harassment to the school authority,” he stressed. Earlier, the group leader of the students who donated the billboard, Abubakar Umar, explained that the gesture was to contribute their quota in enlightening fellow students on decency on campus. “Mass Communication students are potential journalists and their duties are to enlighten and inform members of the society. That’s why we deem it good to help the school authority in drawing the attention of our fellow students to shun nudity in the polytechnic in order to avoid penalties,” he noted.
