Feeding: Obiano doles out N10m for corps members in Anambra

Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, on Monday, said his administration has earmarked the sum of N10 million to augment the camp feeding of the newly sworn in 2019 Batch C (stream II) corps members deployed to the state.
Obiano, who disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the exercise held at the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu-Mbakwu, Awka South LGA, said the disbursement would make it possible for them to be served “the richest meals” in the federation.

The governor, represented by Head of Service, Barr. Harry Uduh, said his administration would not relent in its efforts at ensuring that “the most delightful rations are dished out to you in order to live up to our commitment to your welfare on camp.”

In a welcome address, the Coordinator of NYSC in Anambra state, Mr Aremu Kehinde, while explaining that a total of 1051 corps members would participate in the exercise, revealed that 482 of them were males while 569 were females.
According to Kehinde, the programme would offer “unique opportunity of exposure to citizenship and leadership training, paramilitary training, culture, tradition and norms of Igbo nation, skills on how to mobilise human and material resources for community development, basic first aid and rescue skills, fire prevention skills, lectures and others.”

On his part, the Chairman, NYSC governing board, Mr Afam Mbanefo, enjoined the corps members to actively participate on the various skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programmes during the camping as it would make them to become employers of labour.
